Hello spammers

This to let all of you spam peeps know that none of your weird little so called 'oh my you have an interesting blog' stories will get posted.
Any story that is posted anonymously will get deleted.
I do not fall for "After all I got a web site from where I can actually obtain helpful facts concerning my study and knowledge.", when you comment on a blog post that literally has no information whatsoever that you could study, or it must be you study online shops opening?
The best try yet must be the "I do not know if it's just me or if perhaps everyone else encountering issues with youur blog"
Right hon, no such thing, especially when the rest of your story consists of one grammar mistake after the other and then you post the link to your own 'blog', sorry but no!
You guys all might just as well stop trying, seriously, I never click the links and will delete all of them.
Now let's see how many spam comments I get on this story ;)

We look forward to moving and if you keep an eye on this website we will announce when we will start doing markets again!
Thank you all for your support!

Dia de los Muertos

I have changed the date for the New Braunfels Farmers Market from November 7 to October 31.
Kruse Art will participate in the day of the dead themed contest.
A lot of the vendors will decorate their booth and there are prices to win for both the vendors and the public!
Come out and celebrate the fond memories of our loved ones that passed before us.
Here at the Kruse Art studio we are working hard to make the celebration a beautiful one!

Some more soldering work

I have the pleasure to be able to get stones from a local lapidarist I know.
Funny thing is we bumped into each other again, after not seeing one another for several years and she found out I am making jewelry and so then she told me she actually polishes free form cabs!!!
So of course I had to visit and got myself several gorgeous rocks to work with.

I immediately knew what to do with the Crazy Lace Agate!
A free form bezel setting, always wanted to try that so I set to work with that one right away.

Setting this stone made me realize there were certain tools of the trade I really needed to have before I could venture out more into soldering.
For example I did not have the right underground to work on and it made making this piece even harder.

Now I have the right tools to work with I hope to make more new pieces soon.
I worked on learning how to make a prong setting next.

This first stone is a Bouquet Agate, with rocks this beautiful you want to try to cover as little as possible, so you make a base lining the back of the stone and solder prongs on that hold the rock in place.

I made a similar setting for the Banded Agate, again did not want to cover the stone since it would take away from the amazing detail in the stone.

Thanks for looking!! :-)

Setting stones

So almost a year ago in September last year, I set my very first stone, my friend Heather from The Crafthopper (...and Mama's Craft Room and Moon over Ewe Farm and Fiber Arts) helped me with my very first attempt in setting a stone. It was a carnelian of about 1" by 0.7", so quite a big cabochon to work with.
It came out pretty good, but most definitely was a beginner piece.
I finished it with copper wire 'stitched' around it and small carnelians hanging from the pendant.

So then several days ago I FINALLY did my second attempt making a soldered bezel, this time with a MUCH smaller stone, a garnet of approximately 6 by 8 mm that I bought from Magpie Gemstones
Of course it was much different in a way to set such a small stone, but I had a certain design in mind which called for this small of an adornment.
The new banner contest had been announced for the Magpie Gemstones' Jewelry Makers and Bead Lovers group and the theme was 'fall' so I wanted to make a leaf with a drop in fall color, hence me using the garnet, I think it came out pretty good.

It's been a while!

Obviously I have not been posting for a while. Life got in the way.
I have made a pretty doll last weekend and we are enjoying a week of rest now at my husband's parents' house.

The technique I used is called doodle stitching, doodling but then in embroidery, it is very relaxing to me, although I did make this piece in two days since I had a deadline that all of a sudden was moved closer :)
It did really make me realize how much I enjoy making these and I will start making more of them in the near future.

Detail of the stitching :)
